Frasnacht.

In 2020, the west side of Frasnacht lake waterworks roof area underwent the major renovation. During the refurbishment process a photovoltaic system was installed on the flat roof of Seewasserwerk. In addition to the PV system on the roof, the west façade of the Frasnacht seawater plant also generates electricity. Façade modules from Intelligent Solar with the total area of 130 m2 were installed on the top of the façade. The modules on the façade were covered in colour thus creating an aesthetically blending solution for the building, generating approx. 8,500 kWh of electricity.

Façade Modules in Brick Look

The challenge was to create a pattern visually representing a brick wall and yet transparent enough to generate a substantial amount of power.

Electricity from the Façade

To preserve the character of the brick façade, digital printing was used to print the brick design for the panels. The modules from Intelligent Solar were installed on a total area of 130 m2 and now they generate approx. 8500 kWh of electric power. With the printed brick pattern they perfectly fit the aesthetic design of the building.
